Health Communication and Public Information (HC/PI) Programs
The purposes of HC/PI programs and activities are to build community support for safe behaviors, to dispel myths about HIV/AIDS, to address barriers to effective risk reduction programs, and to support efforts for personal risk reduction. In addition to informing general audiences, our HC/PI programs assist in informing persons at risk of infection of how to obtain specific prevention and treatment services, such as counseling, testing, referral, and partner counseling and referral services and STD screening and treatment.
Our programs include:
- The toll free South Carolina AIDS/STD Hotline operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Our staff can answer questions about testing, prevention and referrals for treatment for HIV/AIDS and other STDs. Our number in South Carolina is: 1(800) 322-AIDS (2437)
- SHARING (Statewide HIV/AIDS Resources and Information Network Guide) is a comprehensive resource and information guide, which includes state and local programs and services for persons needing information on HIV/AIDS and STDs.Click here for SHARING.
