S.C. Recycling & Solid Waste Professionals Conference
The S.C. Recycling & Solid Waste Professionals Conference is designed to encourage local government recycling and solid waste professionals to examine issues, share solutions and better integrate programs. Come prepared to discuss information about your program. The conference is coordinated by the S.C. Solid Waste Professionals Association, the S.C. S.C. Green Building Directory
The S.C. Green Building Directory (SCGBD) is the one, easy to use, go-to resource for those interested in access to tools for green building in South Carolina. The goal of the SCGBD is to provide users with information they need to find products and services that support green building practices for new construction or remodeling of residential and commercial facilities in South Carolina. It also is a useful resource for those within the southeast region of the United States and beyond. Click here for more information.
Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation
Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation (RBRC) has expanded its collection program for the first time in seven years to include new battery technology. The group will now recycle nickel zinc rechargeable batteries, which is the fifth rechargeable battery chemistry recognized by the RBRC. Its collection program also includes nickel cadmium, nickel metal-hydride, lithium ion and small sealed lead rechargeable batteries.
The RBRC has collected more than 42 million pounds of rechargeable batteries since launching its program in 1996. Its members fund the collection and recycling of the batteries, partnering with retailers, institutions, local governments and nonprofit groups to make free collection boxes available to consumers. South Carolina Solid Waste Management Annual Report for Fiscal Year 2007

Recycle Guys Award Program
Each year, the Office announces a call for entries to recognize innovative and successful solid waste management programs, projects and people for the previous fiscal year. Award recipients are honored each Spring at the annual Recycle Guys Awards Program.

Electronics Waste Advisory

Electronics Product Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT)
EPEAT is a system to help purchasers in the public and private sectors evaluate, compare and select desktop computers, notebooks and monitors based on their environmental attributes. EPEAT also provides a clear and consistent set of performance criteria for the design of products and provides an opportunity for manufacturers to secure market recognition for efforts to reduce the environmental impact of its products.
