More charges filed in electroplating waste investigation

COLUMBIA – Additional charges have been filed against two people arrested in connection with an electroplating waste spill investigation in Spartanburg County, the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control reported today.

Marvin W. Brown, 41, of 511 Inman Road, Lyman, S.C. and Barbara Ann Brown, 35, of the same address, have been charged with one count each of violation of the state’s Pollution Control Act, the S.C. Hazardous Waste Management Act along with two counts of conspiracy in warrants served by DHEC agents today at the Spartanburg County Detention Center. DHEC agents arrested the two May 28.

The new charges bring the total to eight counts against each.

The investigation into the incident is continuing.
